Put your love to the test

Company: Bank Of AmericaTrend: The Personal ApproachSubject: Recruitment

What do you see?

On the Bank of America recruitment site, graduates can easily check whether the financial giant has a fitting vacancy or career path for them. The job-seeker simply clicks on ‘Find your Fit’ and fills in ten questions. The questions cover education and degrees, level of experience, regional preferences and professional interests.

Having finished the test, the visitor is offered several positions that match his answers and thus his profile.

Why is it effective?

More and more companies offer interactive and educational tests on their recruitment site. Some cover the soft side, matching personal values to company culture. Others explore professional skills and expertise, like BoA.

But an online test is only as effective as the added value of its outcome. Many tests do not include a clear conclusion, recommendation or follow-up. The BoA test is a positive exception as the bank offers vacancies and traineeships that match the profile.

What’s next?

Several companies offer such a test, but unfortunately the outcome of the test is not always very company-specific. Consider letting your current employees take the test. With a recruitment test, there’s no such thing as an undeniable truth. Your people’s answers should be valid for potential candidates as well.

The trend that emerges from this best practice is called ‘interaction’. It seems self-evident, but the majority of websites are unable to establish two-way communication with their visitors. And as communication is a basic and biological need of each human being, it will offer humongous added value to your digital channel as well. Especially for job market communication. Adequate interaction will increase the chance of a successful match.
