Financial press releases, financial presentations and analyst meetings are some of the most important information sources for financial analysts and financial journalists. A lot of these financial stakeholders tend to look up this information on their PDAs while being on the road. Some telecommunications companies start taking into account these information needs. ITV, a leading UK media company, presents its interim results both in audio and video podcast (also called vodcast). A podcast is a downloadable file which you can listen to on your mp3 player.

Three step manual for introducing podcasts

• Experiment with providing podcasts of important corporate events, like the financial results presentation or an analyst meeting.
• Show the file size and file type and provide a clear instruction on how to download and transfer the podcast to an iPod.
• Analyse the user statistics of these podcasts in order to find out whether your podcast has caught on well with your financial stakeholder.

Investors always like to be kept up to date with share information even when they are travelling or on holiday. Amongst others KPN, a Dutch telecommunications company, fulfils these needs by offering its share price for PDA/Blackberry. A financial stakeholder only has to install a specific URL on his portable device in order to track the stock movements while travelling or being on holiday.

Vodafone enables financial stakeholders to view not only stock price information, but also press releases, the latest results, the financial calendar and investor contacts.
